About Henry Leavenworth Chapter
About Our Chapter
The Henry Leavenworth Chapter is one of the oldest chapters in AUSA. In fact we celebrate our 50th birthday in 2006. We proudly bear the name of the officer who established Fort Leavenworth in 1827: Colonel Henry Leavenworth, who clearly recognized the military value of these high bluffs along the western side of Missouri River. Once a crossroads to the American frontier, today Fort Leavenworth is on the leading edge of the Army’s future, housing not only Command and General Staff College but also the Combined Arms Center. We are very proud of our close relationship with the Fort over the past 50 years. We have over 500 individual members and 29 Corporate Members. Many of our current members are CGSC students and although they are here for only a year they serve to remind us of our true purpose as a Chapter: to support the needs of soldiers and family members. We do not want to be viewed as an organization of military retirees, and we strongly encourage all military personnel assigned to Fort Leavenworth, not just students, to join our ranks. In the past we have sponsored the Army Ten Miler team, High School ROTC programs, and a host of other events here in the city of Leavenworth.
